Ainu Stories is an exhibition curated by Japan House, providing a glimpse into what being Ainu means today. The Ainu are an indigenous people living in North Japan, famous for their ancient ceremonies and traditional craftsmanship using natural materials. They believe in spirits called Kamuy, which reside in everything throughout the natural world. The kamuy bring them gifts such as meats, furs, and other important resources. This exhibition design considered the unique connection the Ainu share with their environment.
